Review: "Lair of Dreams" by Libba Bray

I believe it has been said before, but just incase it has not been: Libba Bray is my favorite author among authors (apologies in advance to all other authors I adore but it is just the truth). I loved Libba Bray's The Gemma Series and was smitten with her book The Diviners, now I am absolutely head over heals for her new book Lair of Dreams, the sequel to The Diviners. As always, I will try to avoid spoilers to a book, as this is a sequel to a story in a series however, you are warned now of possible spoilers.

After a supernatural showdown with a serial killer, Evie O'Neill has outed herself as a Diviner. With her uncanny ability to read people's secrets, she's become a media darling and earned the title "America's Sweetheart Seer." Everyone's in love with the city's newest It Girl...Everyone except the other Diviners.

Piano-playing Henry DuBois and China-town resident Ling Chan are two Diviners struggling to keep their powers a secret-for they can walk in dreams. And while Evie is living in the high life, victims of a mysterious sleeping sickness are turning up across New York City.

As Henry searches for a lost love and Ling strives to succeed in a world that shuns her, a malevolent force infects their dreams. And at the edges of it all lurks a man in a stovepipe hat who has plans that extend farther than anyone can guess....As the sickness spreads, can the Diviners descend into the dreamworld to save the city?

It was refreshing to return to the beloved cast of the first book, especially since I love every single character in this series (sorry guys but Memphis and Theta I missed a tiny bit more). What's more is that Libba adds a brand new cast member to this series named Ling Chan who is a tough gal with a brain for science that influences how she values her own powers as a Diviner. There are not enough words to describe how much I loved Ling and how perfectly she fit in with our nutty Diviner group from the first book. She's the perfect addition and a shed of Libba Bray's genius (I'll stop here otherwise you will be reading this review forever).

This heart racing sequel is full of surprises and adrenaline pumping moments that make me regret having to put off finishing the book for so long. The chilling horror and suspense is back with an all new twist to the story, not to mention plenty of moments that are going to send you running for tissues to dab at those tears. This sequel is excellent and I just can not wait for more! Once again Libba Bray delivers a wonderful series that will keep you turning page after page wanting to know what horrors her cast of memorable and lovable characters will have to face next.
