BoldFace Writing Conference
Since registration is still up, and I know there are many of you out there who live in Houston (like me) who would jump at the chance of attending an affordable writing conferene, I'm going to happily tell you all a little about this wonderful conference and why you should attend it.
The sale's pitch :
Boldface is the complete package any aspiring writer (professional or not) would look for. There are group workshops, craft talks, readings from professional authors and masterclasses to attend that are full of information about publishing, how to write certain crafts and how to build a writing resume. Students get discounts, as do people who sign up for the early bird registration, and consultations with professional authors are also available for an extra $50. Did I mention breakfast and lunch are included in your schedule? Personally, I feel this experience is worth about three times the price of registration.
This conference takes place in the library at the University of Houston, easy to get to and plenty of space to yourself during free time, or to spend with other visiting writers and discuss your obvious genius.
The schedule below is taken directly from the website, but it is nice to know what a typical day at Boldface looks like:
The full details of our 2015 schedule are still in-progress, but here’s a look at a sample day at Boldface. We can’t wait to see you there!
1:35-2:15: Reading by Visiting Writer
4:20-5:00: Craft Talk by Visiting Writer
